Role Description

The Solar PV Electrician is a full-time role responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial properties. Day-to-day tasks include wiring inverters and other electrical components, and performing electrical testing to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. The role involves diagnosing faults, completing repairs, and carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance. The Solar PV Electrician will also prepare basic documentation, such as installation reports and test certificates, follow relevant electrical and safety standards, and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues to coordinate work. While the role is remote in terms of administration and coordination, on-site visits to customer locations will be required to complete installations and service tasks.

Qualifications

• Solid electrical installation skills, including experience with wiring, circuit protection, and testing of low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of solar PV systems, including inverters, batteries, and Eps switches and sockets and grid connection requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Strong attention to safety, including familiarity with relevant electrical regulations and safe working practices at height and on roofs.
• Good problem-solving skills for diagnosing system faults and implementing effective repairs.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with customers and colleagues.
• Comfort using digital tools to manage remote work, including scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
• Relevant electrical qualifications or certifications (e.g., recognized electrician certification or equivalent) and a valid driver’s license for site visits.
• Prior experience in solar PV installation or renewable energy projects is highly beneficial.
