Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Cheltenham is seeking a Delivery/Project Manager to join our delivery team in the Cheltenham office. The role focuses on financial guidance, tasking, understanding, and advising on specialist deliveries aligned with the customer’s mission.

You will drive project profitability, manage constraints, and lead a high-performing team while promoting continuous improvement and effective stakeholder engagement in a government/cyber context.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Delivery/Project Management roles with evidence of collaborative working.
• Recent experience supporting IT/Software/Cyber projects in Government or similar organisations.
• Experience in Defence or Cyber environments.
• Familiarity with PRINCE2, Agile Project Management (APM) and MSP.
• Experience in setting strategy, defining process and influencing decisions within an account.
• Must hold and maintain UK Government clearances.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the financial management of projects, including understanding of risk and cost mitigation for delivery.
• Responsible for the profitability of the project and identifying potential opportunities to increase profitability.
• Responsible for delivering the project within the contracting constraints, including time, budget and quality for T&M and FP contracts.
• Responsible for the performance of the team from a customer deliverable and commercial perspective.
• Build and maintain a high performing team, ensuring motivation, collaboration and effective work.
• Maintain delivery momentum by focusing the team on current project priorities.
• Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement of the delivery team.
• Coach and mentor team members in the appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques.
• Utilise customer relationships to identify potential areas for new opportunities.
• Identify and develop opportunities for research and development work and feed them directly to the Account Leads.
• Drive organic growth within the allocated project.
• Apply knowledge of customer problems by working with SME to recommend when to use existing capability or to build a new capability.
• Maintain knowledge of key senior stakeholder relationships to cultivate and contribute to company strategy.

Overview

This is an operational role, which requires an understanding of a variety of project and delivery management tools and techniques as well as a varying degree of knowledge of the customer’s domain in order to understand and provide relevant assistance to improve their ways of working or to assist in developing solutions.

• Strong skills in influencing and negotiation methods and techniques.
• Adaptable communication style to explain technical ideas simply to multiple stakeholders.
• Must hold and maintain UK Government clearances.
