Job summary

HSBC is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Lead to build inhouse onboarding and KYC products across design to production. You will work with product teams to design in a microservice architecture and drive high-cadence delivery, ensuring quality and scalability.

The role emphasizes deep Java expertise (prefer Java 17+), PostgreSQL schema design, and strong communication to translate business needs into technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience building applications using non-breaking principles, especially RESTful APIs.
• Experience developing microservices using iterative methods and releasing to production regularly.
• Deep Java experience, preferably with Java 17+.
• Build and manage database schemas with substantial PostgreSQL experience.
• Translate business outcomes into technical delivery through strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver inhouse onboarding and KYC products from design through production.
• Design solutions using microservice architecture in close partnership with product and requirements.
• Maintain high-cadence delivery for new functionality and legacy replacement while ensuring production quality.
• Strengthen collaboration between engineering teams across regions to improve consistency and speed of delivery.
• Embed engineering principles and contribute to engineering transformation across HSBC.
• Shape designs aligned to Future State Architecture and promote component reuse.
