Integrated Environmental Solutions Limited (IES) is seeking a Software Engineer (PHP & MySQL) to develop and enhance web-based applications supporting our climate-tech products. You will join an AI-first transformation and work with Product, QA and IT teams to deliver secure, scalable software across the globe.

Responsibilities include design, development, testing and deployment across the full stack, with emphasis on PHP, MySQL, CMS platforms and cloud-hosted environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with PHP and MySQL in web apps.
• Experience with a modern PHP framework and ability to learn new ones.
• Understanding of secure development practices and code reviews.
• Experience with automated testing and code quality practices.
• Familiarity with CMS platforms and web services.

The Role

As a Software Engineer (PHP & MySQL) at IES, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing the web-based applications that support our products and services. You will join our ambition to be an AI-first organisation and will apply AI responsibly and practically in performing your role.

Working closely with Product, QA and IT teams, you will design, develop and maintain secure, scalable and high-performing software solutions. You’ll contribute across the full development lifecycle, using appropriate frameworks, tools and engineering practices to deliver reliable outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test and maintain web applications and back-end services using PHP and MySQL.
• Build and enhance content-managed web solutions using appropriate CMS platforms.
• Design, optimise and maintain MySQL databases and data access layers using modern data access patterns and tools.
• Develop responsive front-end functionality using modern web frameworks and languages.
• Build and integrate APIs, external services and data sources.
• Participate in all stages of a standard software development lifecycle, including design, development, review, testing, documentation, deployment and ongoing improvement.
• Implement secure authentication and authorisation solutions using established identity platforms and standards.
• Develop and support applications in containerised and cloud-hosted environments.
• Monitor application performance and contribute to observability, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Utilise AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, code quality and testing outcomes.

Skills & Experience

• Experience with a modern PHP framework and the ability to learn new frameworks as required.
• Strong understanding of MySQL database design, optimisation and performance tuning.
• Experience with object-relational mapping, data access layers or comparable database integration approaches.
• Sound knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, maintainable code and software design patterns.
• Experience with automated testing, code review and software quality practices.
• Proficiency with distributed source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of web application security and secure development practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Experience with content management platforms.

• Experience with Linux-based hosting and web server administration.
