Job summary

Sophos is hiring a Software Engineer II to join the Agentic AI team in Canada. You will design, build and support AI-powered cybersecurity capabilities, delivering cloud-native microservices and REST APIs with Python, FastAPI and Temporal.

You will collaborate across engineering, product, DevOps and security to ensure secure, scalable services and responsible AI practices. The role emphasizes cloud-native architectures, data-store integration and ongoing knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
• Production code delivery in a collaborative engineering environment.
• Web services, microservices or REST APIs using Python or an equivalent language.
• Involvement across the software delivery lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment and ops.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain cloud-native microservices and REST APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI and Temporal.
• Contribute to LLM-powered applications and supporting services.
• Integrate data technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch.
• Deliver features through design, implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Investigate defects in distributed systems with logs, metrics and debugging tools.
• Contribute to containerised services using Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD in AWS.
• Write clear, maintainable, tested code and engage in peer reviews.
• Collaborate with product, DevOps, QA and security to manage dependencies.
