Job summary

Sophos is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to support automation, tooling, and release processes for cloud-based services. You will work with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes environments, and developer tooling to enable safe, consistent software delivery.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, Linux troubleshooting, and practical automation in Groovy, Python, and Bash, with AI-assisted tooling used responsibly to improve productivity and documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or release engineering.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS a plus).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Terraform and IaC tooling.
• Understanding of release management and automation practices.

Responsibilities

• Support CI/CD pipelines and release automation for SaaS apps and microservices.
• Maintain and improve developer tooling (GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory).
• Deploy and troubleshoot builds across dev, QA, and prod environments.
• Assist with Kubernetes/Amazon EKS deployments and health checks.
• Use Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure and keep it repeatable.
• Write automation scripts in Groovy, Python, or Bash.
• Collaborate with dev teams to optimize build and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot issues in logs, pipelines, and cloud services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and DevSecOps tooling integrations.
