Software Engineer for Quantum Production Systems

Job summary

OQC is building software to operate quantum computers. We seek a Software Engineer to own projects end-to-end, designing robust systems, and delivering production-ready code with a strong emphasis on security and maintainability.

You will work across greenfield and existing codebases, mentoring peers, reviewing code, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines while collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to meet high standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level knowledge, or equivalent professional experience, in computer science and a numerical discipline.
• Experience delivering multiple software projects across the full development lifecycle.
• Hands-on debugging in development and production environments.
• Experience maintaining software across multiple tiers of a system.
• Strong Python knowledge and familiarity with Python libraries.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, OS, networking and HTTP.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned software projects from requirements gathering to deployment and evaluation.
• Design new systems and approaches, considering performance, security, maintainability and cost.
• Develop and maintain clean, reliable software with documentation.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across development and production environments.
• Review and test code, participate in pair programming and determine readiness for production.
• Automate QA and documentation activities, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Share knowledge through mentoring and internal events and represent OQC publicly where appropriate.
