Job summary

Target Integration Ltd. in Gloucester is seeking Software Engineers to work on Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes. You will contribute to cutting-edge DevSecOps software systems and safeguard digital infrastructures in the UK, with a flexible hybrid working model.

You'll design and implement software, run tests, and collaborate across teams, using Linux, Git, Jira/Confluence, and CI/CD pipelines. A strong focus on automation, testing, and cloud deployment is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience developing on Linux.
• Experience with JUnit 5.x and unit testing.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Experience with Agile SCRUM.
• Knowledge of Oracle/Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
• Knowledge of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
• Proficiency with Atlassian Suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence).
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Knowledge of Hibernate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct software development activities under the direction of your Software Engineering Lead.
• Design and development of tests to debug software.
• Work with customer requirements programmed into business/mission applications, following standards, processes and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
• Correct program errors.
• Prepare operating instructions.
• Document program development.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Champion automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

Typically, you will be involved in one or more of the following:

• Conducting software development activities under the direction of your Software Engineering Lead.
• Design and development of tests to debug software.
• Working with customer requirements that are to be programmed into business/mission applications, whilst utilising the appropriates standards, processes and tools throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Correction of program errors.
• Preparation of operating instructions.
• Documentation of program development.
• Analysis of system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Championing automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing cutting edge DevSecOps software systems and applications. You’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation and safeguarding digital infrastructures in the UK.

Required skills, qualifications, & experiences:

• Experience of developing on Linux.
• Appreciation of mocking and unit testing frameworks such as JUnit 5.x (Jupiter).
• Experienced with Git version control.
• Knowledge of Agile Development using SCRUM.
• Understanding of Oracle/ Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
• Understanding of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
• Proficiency in the use of Atlassian Suite - Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
• Understanding of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Understanding of Hibernate.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of developing software for cloud deployment – specifically AWS.
• Developing software for microservice and or serverless architectures.
• Understanding of CI/CD software pipelines for Cloud deployments.
• Understanding the development challenges moving on-prem workload to cloud.
• Understanding of AWS Services such as EC2, EKS, Fargate, IAM, S3, Lambda.
