Job summary

Target Integration Ltd. in Gloucester seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead development across Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes. You will plan and coordinate software activities, mentor juniors, and drive DevSecOps automation while collaborating with customers and stakeholders.

The role emphasises cloud-native design, microservices and serverless architectures, with a flexible hybrid work model and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of Java.
  • Experience of developing on Linux.
  • Advanced understanding of mocking and unit testing with JUnit 5.x (Jupiter).
  • Expert with Git version control.
  • Proficient in Agile Development using SCRUM.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle/Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
  • Experience of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Experience of Apache NiFi.
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket.
  • Experience of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
  • Advanced knowledge of Hibernate.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services (EC2, EKS, Fargate, IAM, S3, Lambda).
  • Experience of CI/CD pipelines for Cloud deployments.
  • Experience developing software for cloud deployment – AWS.
  • Experience developing software for microservice/serverless architectures.
  • Understanding moving on-prem workloads to cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, conducting and coordinating software development activities.
  • Working with customers and stakeholders to identify requirements and advise on architectures and solutions.
  • Design and development of tests to debug software.
  • Programming business/mission applications using appropriate standards, processes and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Analysis of system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Championing automation in IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

Typically, you will be involved in one or more of the following:

Planning, conducting and coordinating software development activities.

Working with customers and key stakeholders to identify requirements and ready to advise on and influence the adoption of suitable architectures and solutions.

Design and development of tests to debug software.

Working with customer requirements that are to be programmed into business/mission applications, whilst utilising the appropriates standards, processes and tools throughout the entire development lifecycle.

Mentoring of junior engineers.

Analysis of system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

Championing automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.
