Job summary

Lockheed Martin RMS is hiring Software Engineers for multiple Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes at our Gloucester site. Roles involve designing and developing software across the full lifecycle with a focus on DevSecOps, automation, and cloud deployments.

You’ll work in a dynamic environment supporting cutting-edge security and aerospace projects, with a strong emphasis on modular, scalable architectures and a healthy work-life balance. Training and education opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience of Linux development and testing.
• Proficiency with unit testing frameworks (JUnit 5.x).
• Strong Git version control experience.
• Proficient in Agile Development using SCRUM.
• Experience with relational databases and/or Mongo.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Apache NiFi.
• Experience with Atlassian Suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence).
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Experience with Hibernate.
• Experience of AWS services (EC2, EKS, Fargate, IAM, S3, Lambda).
• Experience of CI/CD pipelines for Cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct software development activities under the direction of the Software Engineering Lead.
• Design and develop tests to debug software.
• Translate customer requirements into software with appropriate standards, processes and tools.
• Fix program errors and prepare operating instructions.
• Document program development and analyze system capabilities to meet specifications.
• Champion automation via IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

A range of specialisms exist in this essential and rewarding role.

You may specialise in just one area or operate across multiple Software Development disciplines with a specific focus on the Cyber domain.

Typically, you will be involved in one or more of the following:

• Conducting software development activities under the direction of your Software Engineering Lead.
• Design and development of tests to debug software.
• Working with customer requirements that are to be programmed into business/mission applications, whilst utilising the appropriates standards, processes and tools throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Correction of program errors.
• Preparation of operating instructions.
• Documentation of program development.
• Analysis of system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Championing automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing cutting edge DevSecOps software systems and applications.

You’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation and safeguarding digital infrastructures in the UK.

What skills will I need?

• Experience of developing on Linux.
• Thorough understanding of mocking and unit testing frameworks such as JUnit 5.x (Jupiter).
• Experienced with Git version control.
• Proficient in Agile Development using SCRUM.
• Experience of Oracle/ Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
• Experience of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
• Experience of Apache NiFi.
• Experience in the use of Atlassian Suite - Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
• Experience of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Experience of Hibernate.
• Experience of AWS Services such as EC2, EKS, Fargate, IAM, S3, Lambda.
• Experience of CI/CD software pipelines for Cloud deployments.

Desired Skills:

• Experience of developing software for cloud deployment – specifically AWS.
• Developing software for microservice and or serverless architectures.
• Understanding the development challenges moving on-prem workload to cloud.
• Experience of JSF (Primefaces).
