Job summary

Lockheed Martin is expanding its Gloucester site with multiple Software Engineer roles focused on Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes. Qualifications

• Experience of Linux development.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit 5.x.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Knowledge of Agile Development using SCRUM.
• Understanding of Oracle/ Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
• Understanding of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
• Proficiency in Atlassian Suite: Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
• Understanding of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Understanding of Hibernate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct software development activities under the direction of your Software Engineering Lead.
• Design and development of tests to debug software.
• Work with customer requirements that are programmed into business/mission applications, using appropriate standards and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
• Correct program errors.
• Prepare operating instructions.
• Document program development.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Champion automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.

We have 5 exciting opportunities arising at our site in Gloucester for Software Engineers, primarily a variety of Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes.

These roles are Level 2 so they would suit someone with a few years professional experience, proven but still a learner.

You may specialise in just one area or operate across multiple Software Development disciplines with a specific focus on the Cyber domain.

Typically, you will be involved in one or more of the following:

What skills will I need?

• Experience of developing on Linux.
• Appreciation of mocking and unit testing frameworks such as JUnit 5.x (Jupiter).
• Experienced with Git version control.
• Knowledge of Agile Development using SCRUM.
• Understanding of Oracle/ Relational Databases and/or Mongo.
• Understanding of GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
• Proficiency in the use of Atlassian Suite - Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
• Understanding of Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Understanding of Hibernate.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of developing software for cloud deployment - specifically AWS.
• Developing software for microservice and or serverless architectures.
• Understanding of CI/CD software pipelines for Cloud deployments.
• Understanding of the development challenges moving on-prem workload to cloud.
• Understanding of AWS Services such as EC2, EKS, Fargate, IAM, S3, Lambda.
