Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a Software Engineer for an innovative 5G technology company, working on embedded PHY software with a focus on real-time performance on embedded platforms.

You’ll develop software to run and test 5G NR PHY algorithms, write high-performance C/C++ code, optimise using SIMD and multithreading, and integrate with ARM-based platforms while contributing to CI testing and interoperability with vendors and operators.

Spectrum IT Recruitment is working with an innovative technology company developing cutting-edge 5G communications technology, and we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing engineering team.

This is a hands-on role focused on the software infrastructure underpinning 5G NR physical layer (PHY) systems, with a particular emphasis on achieving real-time performance on embedded platforms.

You’ll be working at the intersection of embedded software, high-performance C/C++ and advanced wireless communications, collaborating with hardware, systems and test engineers to deliver highly optimised solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing software used to run and test 5G NR PHY algorithms
• Writing and optimising high-performance C/C++ code
• Optimising performance using SIMD, multithreading and hardware acceleration
• Integrating software with 5G PHY algorithms and ARM-based platforms
• Improving and maintaining automated CI testing across the platform

What we’re looking for:

Experience in any of the following would be particularly valuable:

• Real-time embedded systems and Embedded Linux
• ARM platforms

• FPGA or DSP hardware acceleration
• Signal processing / DSP
• Xilinx Vivado or other FPGA toolchains
• 5G / telecommunications software development
• O-RAN, eCPRI or fronthaul protocols
