Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is partnering with a cutting-edge technology business in Southampton to recruit Senior Design Engineers with FPGA/ASIC expertise. You'll contribute to non-terrestrial communications tech for 5G base stations intended for satellite operation.

You'll design RTL, develop testbenches, optimise timing and resources, and collaborate across algorithms, system architecture and verification teams to deliver high-quality hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial FPGA and/or ASIC design experience.
• Experience with synthesis and timing analysis.
• Knowledge of high-throughput data or signal-processing designs.
• Experience optimising timing and hardware resources.
• Familiar with industry-standard EDA simulation and synthesis tools.
• Nice-to-have: 5G, DSP algorithms, UVM, AMBA, PCIe, JESD, Python or AMD/Xilinx FPGA technology.

Responsibilities

• Developing complex RTL designs targeting FPGA and ASIC.
• Translating system and algorithm requirements into RTL micro-architectures.
• Creating testbenches and validating designs on latest FPGA platforms.
• Optimising designs for timing, throughput, hardware resources and power.
• Working across design lifecycle from micro-architecture to verification and physical implementation.
• Collaborating with Algorithm, System Architecture and Verification engineers.
• Producing design specifications and technical documentation.

Spectrum IT Recruitment is working with a cutting-edge technology business in Southampton that is expanding its engineering team and looking for multiple Senior Design Engineers with strong FPGA / ASIC experience.

This is an opportunity to work on genuinely innovative non-terrestrial communications technology, developing technology for 5G base stations designed to operate onboard satellites.

The team is developing advanced baseband signal processing technology that will contribute to the next generation of mobile communications and help enable global connectivity.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing complex RTL designs targeting both FPGA and ASIC
• Translating system and algorithm requirements into RTL micro-architectures
• Creating testbenches and validating designs on the latest FPGA platforms
• Optimising designs for timing, throughput, hardware resources and power
• Working across the full design lifecycle, from micro-architecture and RTL through to verification and physical implementation
• Collaborating closely with Algorithm, System Architecture and Verification engineers
• Producing high-quality design specifications and technical documentation

What we’re looking for:

• Strong commercial FPGA and/or ASIC design experience

Additional experience with 5G, communications/DSP algorithms, UVM, AMBA, SystemC/C++, PCIe, JESD, Python or AMD/Xilinx FPGA technology would be highly advantageous.
