Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a UK retailer to recruit a Software Development Manager who will lead an internal team of about 10 developers. The role is hybrid, with three days on site in Doncaster, and onboarding on site to quickly integrate with the team and the wider business.

You will oversee delivery, plan and execute development projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs while improving ways of working and supporting the AI

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing teams.
• 3-5 years' management experience.
• Strong understanding of software delivery, workflow management, prioritisation and managing competing demands based on risk, impact and urgency.
• Experience managing budgets, costs, resources and supplier relationships within an IT environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build trusted relationships across the business.
• The ability to manage challenging situations, negotiate effectively and resolve conflicts.
• Experience developing talent, identifying skills gaps and supporting recruitment, succession planning and team capability.
• Ideally come from a Software Development background and progressed into management

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure applications meet business requirements.
• Manage the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, and maintenance.

• Identify and resolve technical challenges to maintain operational efficiency.
• Support the integration of new technologies and systems into the existing framework.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
