Experis UK is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in Nottingham to lead a team of engineers and testers in a hybrid role. You will guide performance, development and delivery while remaining hands-off on coding, yet able to read and discuss code to steer quality and architecture.

You will collaborate with Product and Scrum teams to prioritise work, manage competing priorities and foster growth, employing AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience managing, coaching and mentoring software engineers.
• Ability to read and review code, though not coding daily.
• Experience managing software delivery and responding to changing priorities.
• Strong understanding of code quality, TDD and continuous improvement.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Interest in cloud technologies and AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers and testers.
• Manage performance, provide feedback and support career progression.
• Review code and influence software design, architecture and maintainability.
• Improve code quality, testing practices and ways of working.
