A managed IT solutions provider is seeking a Developer to join their team in Doncaster. The role involves working on a variety of projects, focusing initially on legacy Visual Basic applications and system development for a client based in the Midlands. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are essential, and candidates must be willing to travel to the Midlands for initial project phases. The position offers a 35-hour work week, generous holiday allowance, and further training through SC Clearance.
Our client provides end-to-end managed IT solutions and bespoke software development services for a wide range of customers throughout the UK.The majority of support is provided by way of a managed service into both private and public sector clients.
As a result of recent new work won, an opportunity for a Developer has arisen to join the existing team.This will be ideally suited to someone interested in working on a variety of projects and wanting to have responsibility for identifying new and emerging solutions to meet customer needs working as a part of a small but highly skilled and highly performing team.
Initially you will be concentrating on a recent project won from a large company based in the Midlands. This will involve the transfer of knowledge regarding legacy systems and then further development into a new system.Once developed the system will be maintained by our client going forward.
The ideal person for this role will have experience of legacy Visual Basic Applications.The current system ingests data from a variety of operational systems and then provides reporting.You will spend 6 months discovering these applications with the incumbent team, documenting the processes with a view to transferring support of the applications into our client’s business as a managed service.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills in terms of software development and analysing multi-system infrastructure, but also have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Our client’s customer is located in the Midlands so there will be an initial requirement to spend time on site during the early part of the fact finding.This could be up to 2 days per week and involve an overnight stay though this is not anticipated to be longer than 3 months.To compensate for this all expenses and a 20% uplift on salary will be paid during this time. After this time the Developer will be based out of the client’s Sheffield office
Our client operates a 35 hour working week (M-F) with 24 days holiday + bank holidays and Christmas to New Year off fully paid. There will be a requirement to work 1 weekend in 4 on an On Call rota.The successful candidate will also be put through SC Clearance by the company.This is a requirement of all contracts.
