The Role

As Social Sales Lead for Metro, you will be an integral part of the Commercial team, collaborating closely with Editorial and the wider Mail Metro Media team. You’ll be responsible for bringing in new business across a designated portfolio of brands, both client direct and via agencies, whilst super servicing and growing our existing client base. Your role will ensure Metro’s commercial social offering is front and centre.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the dedicated team with the go-to-market social strategy and proactively seek out new business and revenue opportunities to ensure both personal and business targets are achieved and exceeded.
  • Pitch effectively to all levels at agencies and brands directly, who may be unfamiliar with Metro's social proposition.
  • Work closely with the social editorial team to ensure franchises are commercially viable and in line with market needs. Help ideate new video treatments and identify key sponsorship opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with editorial and the product team to develop new social and 360 packages to drive incremental revenue.
  • Use insights to create meaningful pitch collateral to demonstrate the commercial opportunities across Metro's social and digital platforms.
  • Ensure high retention of the existing client base by ensuring all campaigns meet key KPIs
  • Work closely with the wider Mail Metro Media team and stakeholders, acting as their ‘go-to’ for social media solutions and market intel.
  • Take a consultative approach to your client’s business and demonstrate your expertise in understanding a brief, developing the right, integrated response, and delivering strong, first-in-class business outcomes for clients.
  • Organise and lead internal brainstorms for proactive and inbound opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver exciting new product solutions to clients at all levels of seniority, internally and externally.
  • Analyse each campaign and pitch on completion, implementing any required actions to improve future social pitches/partnership activity.
  • Manage the process of booking ads on the relevant systems and manage your pipeline, reporting upwards.

Person Specification

  • 2+ years of digital media sales experience with an emphasis on social and video
  • A good understanding of social media and the commercial opportunities that exist across relevant social platforms
  • Experience working on and winning large business pitches
  • Strong network of contacts with proven relationships
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident in creating and presenting decks, PCA’s & sales collateral
  • Proficient in Excel. PowerPoint and ideally Canva
  • Ability to translate research and data into unique and compelling intel
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects, whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Analytical and numbers-oriented
  • Demonstrate an ability to think big and spot opportunities that our competitors may not have thought of
  • A self-starter who has an entrepreneurial mindset and is adaptable in the way that they work,
  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team
