Teaching Assistant for Student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs

Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Primary School in Havering

Contract Type: Full-time

About Us

Axcis is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Havering, dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of students aged 4 to 11. The school focuses on fostering academic, social, and emotional development.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a student with SEMH needs. The role involves helping the student navigate daily challenges and creating a safe, understanding, and engaging environment. You will collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to support the student's emotional and academic needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized learning plans in partnership with the teacher.
  2. Use positive behavior support strategies to help manage emotions and behaviors.
  3. Assist in building social skills through structured activities and peer interactions.
  4. Work with other staff, including therapists and special education professionals, to support the student's needs.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with SEMH challenges is preferred.
  • Understanding of strategies to support well-being and academic success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient approach to vulnerable learners.
