SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blythe Bridge – Immediate Start

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience—practical or theoretical—in working with challenging behaviour or supporting those with SEN?

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school in Blythe Bridge, and we're currently recruiting for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in psychology, education, youth work, or mental health—whether gained through university studies or hands-on experience in schools, care settings, or other relevant environments.

The Role:

You’ll be working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 who present with a range of SEMH needs, including ADHD, autism (ASD), and behaviours that challenge. Your role will involve:

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis to help them access learning

Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and self-esteem

Implementing tailored behaviour and support strategies

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

Contributing to the setting and review of individual targets

Monitoring and supporting social, emotional, and mental health needs

Assisting with personal care where necessary (training will be provided)

What We’re Looking For:

Prior experience working with children or young people with additional needs, either practically or academically

A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach to behaviour support

A background in psychology, youth work, mental health, or education (desirable)

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential for permanent opportunities based on performance and school needs.
