Job summary

Eurofins Forensic Services is seeking a SOC Reporter to join the PQ Scene of Crime reporting team at Birchwood Park. The role involves interpreting DNA profiling results and reporting to customers, with training opportunities in addendum tasks and a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.

You will work Monday to Friday with one weekend in four, and a weekend shift allowance is payable. The team is experienced and dedicated to supporting the Criminal Justice System.

Qualifications

• No DNA interpretation competence required.
• Minimum qualifications of A-Levels/BTEC in science related subject.
• Proven communication skills both written and verbal.
• Demonstrate initiative; proactive attitude to continuous improvement within the areas of science, quality and efficiency.
• Must display patience, determination, attention to detail and integrity.
• Able to work well on your own as well as part of a team.
• An understanding of the requirements of UKAS and the Forensic Regulator.
• Demonstrate skills to auditors as and when required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to the required Customer Operational Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Management System, Health & Safety documents and CPS requirements.
• Ownership of an individual training logs and PCR document to ensure competence is gained, maintained and demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Deliver fast, accurate data entry that keeps our operations moving.
• Adhere to all aspects of the customer Operational Protocol and EFS Quality Manual.
• Carry out necessary interpretation as per standard operating procedures to required timescales
• Completion of checks associated with the integrity of the National DNA Database (NDNAD)
• Responsible and accountable for the results sent to the customer
• Report any non-conformances or near misses
• Communicate reporting progress with the Production Supervisor and elevate any issues that may arise
• Communicate with Production Supervisor and/or Line Manager with regards to progress of non-casework tasks
• Assist with aspects of Science and Quality that fall within the skills of the individual.
• Responsibility for individual daily time booking on the relevant system.
• Seek continual improvement of methodology and processes that will have a positive impact on quality and effectiveness. Raise ideas at team meetings and huddles
• Ensure all notes are contemporaneous, signed and dated as per standard operating procedures.
