Job summary

Team Jobs - Engineering is seeking an experienced Sliding Head Machinist to turn engineering drawings into precise finished components. You will program, set up and operate sliding head CNC lathes, selecting tooling and proving out new jobs.

Enjoy working on technically demanding machining challenges, improving cycle times and tool performance while maintaining tight tolerances and safe working practices on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Practical experience programming, setting and operating sliding head CNC lathes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and produce components to tight tolerances.
• Experience optimizing tool performance and machining cycle times.

Responsibilities

• Creating and editing CNC programs using G-code and/or offline CAM software.
• Setting tooling, guide bushes and workholding, then proving out jobs.
• Running sliding head lathes and adjusting offsets to maintain accuracy.
• Checking dimensions and surface finish using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Maintaining safe working practices throughout the machining process.

Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

£19 - 21 per hour DOE

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator.

This role offers the opportunity to:

The opportunity as Sliding Head Machinist

You'll turn engineering drawings into accurate, finished components, choosing the tooling and machine setup needed to get the job right. Alongside programming and proving out new jobs, you'll refine existing programs, troubleshoot machining issues and keep production running efficiently.

Your work will include:
