Job summary

A leading transport provider in Luton is seeking a Skilled Shift Engineer responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have proven engineering experience and relevant qualifications in vehicle maintenance. You will diagnose faults, conduct routine inspections, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Flexibility to work various shifts is required to support our operations. This role involves teamwork and communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a skilled mechanic or engineer, ideally within the automotive, heavy vehicle, or rail industry.
• Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A valid UK driving licence (PCV/HGV entitlement preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on a diverse fleet of vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults.
• Complete all necessary documentation accurately and on time.
• Carry out component overhauls and replacements (engines, gearboxes, braking systems).
• Complete all documentation, including job sheets and maintenance records, accurately and on time.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and maintain a safe workshop environment.
