Newstaff employment services are recruiting for SKILLED EDIT ASSISTANTS – TV – FILM – LONDON

You will be part of an in-house post-production team based in London, providing services and support across all group companies to our clients.

As a highly skilled Edit Assistant with experience in a busy post-production MCR, you will play a key role by ensuring all post-production tasks run smoothly. You should have proven customer service skills and a detailed knowledge of post-production workflows, including file-based processes, QC & AS-11.

The Daily

• Ensure all offline and online edits are correctly set up and ready for use.
• Guarantee safe backup of camera card material.
• Label and manage file and tape-based material and metadata.
• Digitise/ingest file and tape-based footage.
• Conform and picture-check final cuts prior to online.
• Export and upload sequences or clips at various specs for client viewing and transcriptions.
• Wrap up finished projects for Grade/Online and Pro Tools mix sessions.
• Assist in managing rushes onto third-party viewing platforms like EditShare Flow and Blackbird.
• Export AAF files.
• Assist with general upgrades and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep up to date with the latest technologies and software.

The Essentials

• Previous experience and good knowledge of Avid Media Composer/Symphony, Nexis, and Nearline shared storage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with production personnel.
• Knowledge of file-based workflows and formats.
• Understanding of Avid offline editing, bin management, metadata, multi-cam, and project organisation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues.
• Understanding of the post-production pipeline, including online, grading & audio, AQC (Vidcheck), and QC.
• Knowledge of data wrangling and backing up rushes to external drives.
• Familiarity with cloud and FTP portals such as Box and Aspera.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure, prioritise workloads, and take ownership on shift patterns.
• Capability to manage and guide clients to meet delivery deadlines in a pressurised environment.

The Nice to Haves

• Experience with Editshare Flow or Blackbird.
• Understanding of AS11 delivery principles.
• Familiarity with VT decks and formats like HDCam SR, XDCam, Digibeta.
• Knowledge of HP-RGS and Teradici connectivity.
• Experience with online scheduling tools such as Farmer’s Wife.
• Good knowledge of DaVinci Resolve, Baselight Editions, Content Agent, Editshare Flow, and Pro-Tools.
