Scientific Editorial Assistant, REDWOOD PUBLISHING RECRUITMENT

Are you passionate about science and looking to start your career in scientific publishing? The publishing arm of a highly respected London-based specialist Society is seeking a Scientific Editorial Assistant to join their experienced team of journal editors. This hands-on position offers comprehensive training in scientific editing and proofreading, along with responsibilities in the editorial process, including copyediting accepted articles. We are looking for an ambitious individual eager to develop a career in academic publishing and to get involved in editing and proofreading from the outset. The role offers hybrid working: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting the editorial team in managing peer-review, production, and publication processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  2. Involvement in the manuscript editorial process from submission to publication.
  3. Supporting marketing and promotional activities for the journal.
  4. Providing administrative support to the editorial team.
  5. Assisting in creating promotional materials and disseminating high-impact articles.

This role is ideal for a life sciences graduate with a strong scientific background. The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • A biological science degree (first-class BSc or MSc with Distinction) and a genuine interest in women’s health.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written English skills.
  • Familiarity with scientific literature.
  • The ability to monitor submission and peer review processes.
  • A strong interest in scientific publishing.
