Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a busy secondary school in Sunderland recruit a Site Supervisor to join the premises team on a full-time permanent basis.

You will maintain a safe, secure and well-presented school environment, manage daily site operations, coordinate with contractors, and support health and safety procedures.

The role requires practical hands-on skills, reliability and the ability to prioritise urgent tasks while keeping classrooms and outdoor areas well maintained.

Qualifications

• Experience in site management, facilities, maintenance or a similar role.
• Practical approach to problem solving.
• Good understanding of general building maintenance.
• Awareness of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to carry out minor repairs where appropriately qualified.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise competing tasks.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Ability to work independently.
• Comfortable working around children and young people.
• Ability to liaise professionally with contractors.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe school environment.
• Relevant maintenance or health and safety qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation of the school site.
• Carry out regular checks of buildings and grounds and identify issues.
• Complete minor repairs and maintenance tasks where competent.
• Ensure classrooms and communal areas are safe and well maintained.
• Assist with setting up rooms for meetings and events.
• Move furniture and equipment when required.
• Assist with deliveries and manage storage areas.
• Assist with site security and opening/closing procedures.
• Monitor access and liaise with contractors and suppliers.
• Report hazards and health and safety concerns and support emergency procedures.
