Job summary

Barratt Developments plc is hiring for a Site Operative/Material Controller to report to the Site Manager and ensure timely, safe completion of on-site tasks. The role requires adherence to BDW standards, site safety, and effective coordination with subcontractors.

You will oversee signage, material protection, site welfare, and cleanliness across plots, ensuring waste is recycled and spaces remain orderly. A CSCS card is required, with preference for experience on large-volume domestic sites.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic self-starter able to use initiative whilst working unsupervised.
• Experience of working on large volume domestic house building sites.
• Health and Safety Awareness.
• Current appropriate CSCS or partner scheme card.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all works on site as instructed by the Site Manager and in line with BDW Standards and procedures.
• Inspect all on-site signage including large sale signs, plot signs, safety signs, etc., keeping signs clean and in good repair.
• Take personal responsibility for health and safety on site and report breaches to the Site Manager.
• Ensure protection of fixed material is carried out by the Sub-contractor in line with BDW procedures.
• Maintain protection of fixed material to the last possible moment and notify the Site Manager of removals or abuse.
• Keep compound and welfare facilities maintained and plots tidy across trades.
• Walk round plots daily to ensure no surplus materials are lying about.
• Ensure waste is segregated and recycled per BDW guidelines.
• Inspect show home gardens and public spaces weekly and remove rubbish.
