Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Site Manager to support a North East housing and wider construction programme for a local authority. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, quality and programme delivery across housing, schools, libraries and leisure facilities.

The role requires SMSTS and CSCS, proven contractor management and a hands-on approach from site setup through to handover, with strong coordination of labour, materials and subcontractors.

Site Manager - Local Authority

Location: North East
Rate: £200 per day
Contract: Interim / Contract

A local authority in the North East is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of its housing and wider construction programme. The role will involve overseeing a mixture of new-build housing and refurbishment projects, including residential developments alongside works across public buildings such as schools, libraries and leisure facilities. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage contractors and subcontractors on site
• Oversee day-to-day health & safety and site compliance
• Monitor quality, progress and programme of worksCoordinate labour, materials and site activities
• Identify and resolve site issues as they arise
• Manage snagging and support projects through to completion and handover
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors and other project stakeholders

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Site Manager within construction
• Experience across new-build housing, residential, social housing or refurbishment projects
• Strong subcontractor and site management experience
• Good understanding of health & safety and construction site procedures
• SMSTS
• CSCS
• Ability to manage projects and site activity with minimal supervision

This would suit an experienced Site Manager from a housing, general building or refurbishment background who is comfortable managing projects from site set-up through to completion.
