Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting an experienced Site Manager for a major civil engineering tunnelling project in Washington, Tyne and Wear. You will oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

The role requires proven site management experience in tunnelling or shaft sinking, strong leadership, and high HSE standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Manager on civil engineering projects.
• Experience in tunnelling and/or shaft sinking environments is required.
• Strong leadership and site management skills.
• Ability to manage subcontractors, site teams, and ensure HSE compliance.

Our client, a specialist in the civil engineering sector, is currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a major project in Washington, Tyne and Wear. This position focuses on tunnelling and shaft sinking within the water industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Overseeing day-to-day site operations.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering projects.
• Demonstrable experience in tunnelling and/or shaft sinking environments.

• Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certification.
• Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) qualification desirable.
