The role requires proven main-contractor site management experience, strong leadership, and a full UK driving licence, with a base near Taunton and Exeter-area project pipeline.

• SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS (Black/Gold) are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety, quality, and building regulation compliance.
• Chair site and progress meetings with client and design team.

Site Manager - Commercial Refurbishment & Fit Out | Near Taunton | £1.5m Project

Location: Near Taunton, with the contractor based in Exeter

Salary: £50,000-£55,000 per annum + car allowance + attractive benefits

The Company

A growing, privately owned main contractor based in Exeter is looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead a £1.5m commercial refurbishment and fit out project near Taunton. With an expanding pipeline of future projects in and around the Exeter area, this is a great opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth with genuine long-term prospects.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will lead all activities on site, overseeing the project from start to finish and reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager. You will take full responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the works, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing all on-site operations from mobilisation through to practical completion
• Leading and coordinating subcontractors and trades to maintain programme and quality
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and building regulations
• Chairing site and progress meetings with the client and design team
• Reporting progress, issues, and programme updates to the visiting Contracts Manager
• Managing site records, RAMS, and progress reporting
• Acting as the key point of contact for site‑based queries throughout the project

About You

• Proven experience as a Site Manager with a main contractor, ideally on commercial refurbishment or fit out projects
• Comfortable leading a site autonomously while reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager
• Living on the M5 corridor, given the contractor's Exeter base and future project pipeline in the Exeter area
• SMSTS, First Aid, and CSCS (Black/Gold card) essential
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Full UK driving licence
