Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment are seeking a hands-on Site Manager for a civil engineering and groundworks project. You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard.

The ideal candidate will have extensive practical site experience, a solid understanding of drainage, foundations, earthworks and infrastructure, and be willing to travel nationwide. SMSTS and CSCS are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Site Manager within civil engineering and groundworks.
  • SMSTS Black Card qualification essential.
  • CSCS Card required.
  • Strong health and safety knowledge and site compliance experience.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and site documents.
  • Supervise subcontractors and direct labour on site.
  • Manage RAMS, toolbox talks, inductions, and site audits.
  • Coordinate plant, materials and equipment.
  • Maintain site records, permits and compliance.

Job Profile for Site Manager CF47632Our client is seeking a hands-on Site Manager with a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks, and general construction. This role would suit either an experienced Site Manager or a capable Foreman/General Foreman looking to take the next step into site management.The ideal candidate will have extensive practical site experience and a solid understanding of drainage, utilities, concrete works, foundations, earthworks, and infrastructure projects. They will be confident leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard.We're looking for a proactive individual who leads by example, communicates effectively with the wider project team and stakeholders, and has the ability to identify and resolve site challenges before they impact delivery or programme. Strong organisational skills, a commitment to health and safety, and a willingness to travel nationwide are essential.

  • Salary £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience

Site Manager Position Overview
  • Read and interpret site construction drawings
  • Understand of setting out and ability to cross check from fixed Datumn points
  • Ability to use laser level when check levels of excavation
  • Familiar with temporary works
  • Managing RAMS, toolbox talks, inductions, and site audits
  • Ability to manage both civils direct labour and specialist Subcontractors and to understand the challenges that are presented by both
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project programmes
  • Supervising subcontractors, direct labour, and site personnel
  • Conducting regular site inspections and ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Liaising directly with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal management teams
  • Monitoring project progress and proactively resolving any site-related issues
  • Coordinating plant, materials, and equipment required for site activities
  • Maintaining site records, reports, permits, and compliance documentation
  • Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and company standards
Site Manager Position Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Site Manager within civil engineering and groundworks
  • SMSTS Black Card qualification essential
  • CSCS Card required
  • First Aid qualification advantageous
  • Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and site compliance procedures
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on-site
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site documentation
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required
