Qualifications

  • SMSTS qualification; SSSTS considered the minimum.
  • Confined Space, Street Works (SLG), First Aid, Manual Handling and Working at Height training.
  • Understanding of water hygiene requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of water and wastewater capital projects, ensuring safety and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and multidisciplinary activities (pipeline, mechanical, electrical).
  • Plan works with the Programmer and liaise with Capital Project Team, Project Manager and commissioning teams.
  • Approve and produce risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans and quality documentation.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, toolbox talks and briefings in line with legislation and permits.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, training, morale and standards of work, ensuring effective communication.
  • Maintain project records using CEMAR and ProjectWise, including programmes and defect reporting.
  • Oversee incident reporting, site security, waste management, carbon reduction and KPI achievement.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Site Manager to support capital works delivery across the water and wastewater sector in the North West. This permanent role will involve managing site operations, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with quality, environmental and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of water and wastewater capital projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to specification.
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and work disciplines, including pipeline, mechanical and electrical engineering activities.
  • Plan works with the Programmer and liaise closely with the Capital Project Team, Project Manager and commissioning teams.
  • Approve and produce risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans and associated quality documentation.
  • Carry out regular health, safety and environmental inspections, toolbox talks and briefings, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, licences, consents and environmental action plans.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, team responsibilities, training, morale and standards of work while promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate project records using CEMAR and ProjectWise, including programme updates, defect reporting, communications, drawings and documentation.
  • Oversee incident reporting, site security, waste management, carbon reduction activities, lifting arrangements and the achievement of client key performance indicators.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in site management within the water, wastewater, utilities or civil engineering sector.
  • Strong understanding of confined-space working, large vessels or detention tanks, shaft construction and associated environmental impacts.
  • Ability to manage health, safety and environmental standards across active construction sites.
  • SMSTS qualification, with SSSTS considered the minimum requirement.
  • Confined Space, Street Works (SLG), First Aid, Manual Handling and Working at Height training.
  • Understanding of water hygiene requirements
