Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting a Site Manager to lead a major school refurbishment and extension project in Kent. You will take full operational ownership of the scheme, overseeing groundworks through to handover, ensuring quality, safety and programme deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have proven site management experience on education projects with Tier 1 contractors, SMSTS, CSCS Black/Gold and First Aid at Work, plus a strong focus on delivery and collaboration with the supply chain.

• Track record delivering school/educational projects on Tier 1/main contractor
• Broad technical capability across groundworks, structural packages and internal finishes
• Essential tickets: SMSTS, CSCS Black/Gold, First Aid at Work

Responsibilities

• Full Project Delivery: manage site operations from groundworks to high-spec finish and client sign-off
• Subcontractor & Supply Chain Leadership: drive performance and align trades with construction programme
• Health, Safety & Compliance: enforce Tier 1 safety standards on site and manage CDM in an educational setting
• Technical Management: review drawings, handle RFIs on-site and support QA with Project Manager

Site Manager - School Refurbishment & Build

About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Site Manager to join a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor overseeing a major school refurbishment and extension project in Kent.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a ambitious, career-minded manager seeking long-term stability with an industry leader. You will take full operational ownership of the scheme, leading the build through its entire lifecycle-from early groundworks right through to final handover and snagging.

Key Responsibilities

• Full Project Delivery: Manage daily site operations from groundworks, substructures, and structural alterations through to high-spec fit-outs, commissioning, and client sign-off.

• Subcontractor & Supply Chain Leadership: Drive performance, ensure quality standards, and keep all trade contractors strictly aligned with the baseline construction program.

• Health, Safety & Compliance: Enforce Tier 1 Health & Safety standards on site, conducting RAMS reviews and managing CDM compliance in an educational environment.

• Technical Management: Review technical drawings, resolve RFIs on-site, and manage quality assurance alongside the Project Manager.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Track Record: Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering school or educational projects within a Tier 1 or top-tier regional main contractor.

• Technical Depth: Broad technical capability spanning groundworks, structural packages, and detailed internal finishes.

• Essential Tickets:

  • SMSTS

  • CSCS Black (or Gold) Card

  • First Aid at Work

• Desirable: Enhanced DBS check (ideal for school environments, though not compulsory for application).
