Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property seeks an experienced Site Manager to lead on regional commercial projects valued around £5M+. You will drive daily operations, manage subcontractors, and uphold safety, quality and programme commitments on-site.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will communicate project progress and support cost control while travelling to regional sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience as lead Site Manager on schemes around £5M.
• SMSTS, CSCS Black Card (Management) and First Aid at Work are required.
• Proven ability to manage safety, quality and programme on-site.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day on-site operations aligned with the master programme.
• Direct subcontractors and site workforce with clear communication and quality control.
• Drive safety culture with RAMS checks, toolbox talks and inductions.
• Collaborate with Commercial/QS teams to monitor costs and delays.
• Provide progress updates to Contracts Manager and attend key meetings.

Site Manager | Main Contractor (Commercial / Regional Build)

Salary: ~£65,000 + Benefits Package Location: South Coast Region Role Type: Permanent

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of an established, highly respected regional Main Contractor operating across the South Coast. Known for delivering high-quality commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial schemes, they have an impressive pipeline of upcoming projects arriving across the region.

Due to recent project wins, they are looking for an experienced Site Manager to join their operational team on a permanent basis. You will take lead operational responsibility for upcoming schemes valued at £5M+, delivering projects safely, on time, and to high quality standards while reporting directly into a Contracts Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-Day Operations: Manage all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring projects progress strictly in line with the master programme.
• Subcontractor & Workforce Management: Direct and supervise trade contractors and site labor, maintaining clear lines of communication, quality standards, and performance control.
• Health, Safety & Quality: Drive a strict safety culture on-site (RAMS inspections, toolbox talks, site inductions) and ensure full adherence to building regulations and design specifications.
• Cost & Programme Control: Work alongside the Commercial and Quantity Surveying team to track project costs, manage resources, and address potential delays proactively.
• Reporting & Client Liaison: Act as the main operational point of contact on-site, providing regular progress updates to the Contracts Manager and attending key project stakeholder meetings.

Key Candidate Requirements

• Project Experience: Proven track record running build projects as the lead Site Manager on schemes up to/around £5M within a main contracting environment.
• Location & Mobility: Based on or near the South Coast with full mobility to travel to regional site locations.
