A leading utility company is seeking a Site Manager for transmission underground cable projects in Scotland. You will manage construction outputs, oversee contractors, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Applicants should have relevant project management experience and a strong technical background in construction and engineering.
Site Manager (Transmission Underground Cables)
As Site Manager within SP Energy Networks Transmission Major Projects, you will join a multi-disciplined team responsible for the construction of new build, replacement, refurbishment, or other associated major transmission projects. You will play a pivotal role within the SPT Business with responsibility for managing Construction outputs during the delivery phase of Major Projects.
Importantly, you’ll focus on providing technical support, & advice, primarily in relation to all Transmission underground cable aspects of the construction stage for projects, including management of several onsite contractors and be the primary on-site representative to take ownership.
This position requires a flexible approach to working hours and environment due to the requirements of the project including timescales, external contracted workforce, shift patterns, remote locations and out of hours working.

To be successful, a Site Manager will have strong leadership, planning, negotiation and influencing skills, will be able to lead and work in a team and contractors’ environment and maintain effective working relationships.
We are looking for people with significant experience in managing transmission construction projects with the ability to understand civil and structural design drawings and all inspection and testing regimes associated.
They will have awareness of NEC conditions of contract, ability to implement quality assurance and environmental processes and proven knowledge and experience of specification, design, maintenance, construction, and commissioning of civil works within the confines of a Transmission substation environment.
Technical experience of specifications, designs, maintenance, construction and commissioning of underground cables, monitoring and inspecting the installation of ducts systems, underground cables, horizontal directional drillings, joint bays, sealing ends and terminations or fibre optic connections is desired.
As a minimum, you will demonstrate:
Experience and knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation with understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and duty holder roles, most notably in delivering the Principal Contractor role and experience in the application and compliance with GS6, HSG47, Temporary works, New Roads and Street Works Act is essential.
