Job summary

CR1 Group Limited seeks a freelance Site Manager to lead a 7-week refurbishment and M&E upgrade at a distribution centre in Methley (LS26). The role requires hands-on leadership, strong organisational skills, and the ability to deliver on time and to a high standard, with day-to-day site operations and subcontractor coordination.

You will manage progress, safety compliance, quality control, and on-site teams, working to tight shifts and reporting to the project team.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Site Manager on refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Experience managing distribution centres, warehouses or similar industrial facilities.
• CSCS Card (managers), SMSTS and 3-day First Aid certificates are required.

Freelance Site Manager - Distribution Centre - 6 week small fit out / M&E upgrades

Location: Methley - LS26

Start Date: ASAP

Project: 6 weeks remaining (additional works possibly added)

Hours: split shifts - 5.30am to 3.30pm / 7.30am - 5.30pm

Job Profile

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join our client who are main contractor that turnover circa £150m. They have been allocated a national roll out in the region of £50m's worth of Small / Medium Distribution centre refurbishments for their client, a world leading brand. The scope of works vary across all schemes and are from £2m to £8m a piece.

This particular project is in Methley and has 7 week remaining on site,

It is a £2.2m scheme where there are internal infrastructure works, M&E upgrades, Fire doors, painting / Decorating.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and the ability to deliver the project on time and to a high standard as well as being computer literate

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day site operations across the 7 -week programme.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and on‑site teams to ensure smooth delivery.
• Monitor progress against programme milestones and report regularly to the project team.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
• Oversee quality control and resolve any issues that arise during construction and fit‑out.

Required

• Proven track record as a Site Manager on refurbishment and fit‑out projects.
• Experience in managing distribution centres, warehouses, or similar industrial facilities would be ideal but essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, health & safety, and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive the project to completion.
• Freelance/contract availability for the full 7 - week duration.
