Job summary

Compass Community Schools in the United Kingdom is seeking a proactive Site Manager to ensure our school and residential home are safe, well-maintained and compliant. You will oversee buildings, grounds and facilities, supporting pupils, staff and visitors in a secure, welcoming environment.

Key duties include day-to-day repairs (carpentry, plumbing, painting), safety checks, logging works, and coordinating with staff. A UK driving licence and willingness to DBS check are required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to carry out minor repairs safely and competently.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting).
  • Conduct routine inspections and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
  • Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety and water hygiene checks.
  • Maintain external areas such as playgrounds, paths, and car parks.
  • Assist with site security, opening/closing procedures, and emergency responses.
  • Log completed works and assist with audits and inspections.
  • Provide support for school activities and liaise courteously with staff, pupils, and visitors.

About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Site Manager to join our team. This role plays a key part in ensuring our school and children's residential home are safe, well-maintained, and fully compliant. You will oversee the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and facilities, helping to create secure, welcoming, and positive environments for pupils, young people, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting).

What We’re Looking For
  • Practical experience in building maintenance, caretaking, or facilities work.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Flexible, trustworthy, and child-focused approach.
Desirable
  • Experience in a school or education setting.
  • Basic trade qualifications or NVQs.
