Job summary

Compass Community seeks a proactive and reliable School Site Manager to join our team. This role ensures school buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, well-maintained and compliant, creating a secure and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance, conduct routine inspections, support health and safety compliance (including fire safety and water hygiene checks), and manage site security, opening/closing procedures and emergency

Qualifications

  • Practical experience in building maintenance, caretaking, or facilities work.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs safely and competently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Flexible, trustworthy and child-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting).
  • Conduct routine inspections and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
  • Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety and water hygiene checks.
  • Maintain external areas such as playgrounds, paths and car parks.

  • Log completed works and assist with audits and inspections.
  • Provide support for school activities and liaise courteously with staff, pupils and visitors.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

  • Basic IT skills for logging jobs and emails.
