Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking a Site Maintenance Assistant to support Hemlock Stone School in Stapleford. You will carry out routine maintenance, respond to faults, keep buildings and grounds safe, and prepare rooms for daily activities, helping learning thrive for pupils.

Experience in maintenance or facilities is preferred; a practical approach to repairs, good health and safety awareness, and the ability to prioritise tasks are essential. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar role
  • A practical approach to troubleshooting and completing repairs
  • Good awareness of health and safety and safe systems of work
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills and a positive, service-focused attitude

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine maintenance across the school site, including planned checks and minor repairs
  • Responding to faults and completing urgent repairs to ensure spaces remain safe and functional
  • Supporting the upkeep of buildings and grounds, helping maintain a clean, well-presented environment
  • Assisting with the preparation of rooms and facilities for day-to-day use and school activities
  • Working with site processes for reporting, recording and prioritising tasks
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, including safe working practices
  • Liaising with colleagues so maintenance needs are communicated clearly and addressed efficiently

Hemlock Stone School in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire opened in March 2026, and caters for up to 66 pupils, providing a specialist learning environment for young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Complex Needs. For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.   • Experience in a maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar role (or strong hands‑on skills gained in another setting)
  • A practical approach to troubleshooting and completing repairs
  • Good awareness of health and safety and safe systems of work
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills and a positive, service-focused attitude
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills over time
  • Full UK driving licence is required
