Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is recruiting a Site Engineer – Structures for Coventry. You will be responsible for on-site control and implementation of works, setting out, surveying, and coordinating with subcontractors to deliver civil infrastructure projects.

Role requires degree in civil engineering or equivalent, site engineering experience, and CSCS card. You will liaise with clients and ensure drawings, schedules, and risk assessments are properly implemented on site.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Experience on large-scale civils infrastructure projects.
• Experience in RC works or drainage/highways/earthworks.
• Experience in possession works (Network Rail) preferred.
• CSCS Card and driving licence.
• Ability to read drawings and schedules.
• Set-out using level, EDM and GPS.
• Ability to prepare handover documentation and quantify materials.

Responsibilities

• Obtain permits and ensure readiness for site work.
• Complete inspections and QA sheets as soon as checks are completed.
• Set out and survey on site.
• Manage subcontractors on site.
• Control documents and distribute information effectively.
• Develop and approve procedures for the area of works.
• Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure compliance.
• Liaise with the client and other sections to avoid clashes on site.
• Reflect works in drawings as they are completed and ensure smooth workflow.
• Review procedures to improve efficiency.

ROLE TITLE Site Engineer – Structures

REPORTS TO Section Engineer

LOCATION Coventry

ROLE PURPOSE To undertake Site Engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure all permits are applied for and in place, ready for site work to begin.
• Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed.
• Setting out and surveying
• Management of subcontractors.
• Make effective use of document control to manage distribution of information.
• Develop and Approve relevant procedures specific to the area of works.
• Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed throughout the works.
• Regularly liaising with the client
• Ensure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished
• Liaise with other Sections to ensure any clashes on site are managed to ensure a smooth flow of work
• Regularly review procedures to ensure they are as efficient as possible

ESSESTIAL EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

• Qualified to degree level in civil engineering or equivalent
• Previous site engineering experience preferred
• Large scale civils infrastructure project experience
• Experience in structural RC works preferred, would also consider good experience in drainage, highways and earthworks
• Experience in possession works (perhaps Network Rail)
• Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
• Setting out techniques – ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS
• Reads and understands drawings and schedules
• Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works
• Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately
• Knowledge of specification and contract documents
