Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our construction team. You will provide on-site technical support, ensure works are set out accurately and compliant with drawings, specifications and project requirements.

You will collaborate with Site Manager and subcontractors to keep projects on programme, maintain high health and safety standards, produce site records and assist with quality documentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Site Engineer on construction sites.
• Engineering qualification such as HNC/HND or degree.
• Competent in setting out and surveying techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Knowledge of construction methods, QA and documentation.
• Strong IT and record-keeping skills and effective communication.
• Full UK driving licence and commitment to health and safety.

Job description

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of our construction projects.

As Site Engineer, you will provide technical and engineering support on site, ensuring works are set out accurately and constructed in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.

You will work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and wider site team to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out and surveying of construction works.
• Establish and maintain site control points and benchmarks.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Undertake dimensional checks and ensure works are constructed to the required tolerances.
• Produce and maintain site records, quality documentation and as-built information.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Assist with method statements, risk assessments and inspection and test plans.
• Identify technical issues and work with the project team to develop practical solutions.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives.
• Assist with quantities, measurements and cost-control information.
• Monitor progress against programme and provide accurate technical information.
• Support quality assurance and ensure defects or non-conformances are addressed.
• Assist with surveys, levels, measurements and technical investigations.
• Maintain accurate records of site activities and completed works.
• Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental performance.

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and confident working in a busy construction environment. You will have excellent attention to detail, a proactive approach and the ability to communicate effectively with site and office-based teams.

Essential

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.
• Relevant engineering qualification, such as HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• Competent in setting out and surveying techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of construction methods, specifications and quality requirements.
• Strong IT and record-keeping skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.

Desirable

• Experience using total stations, GPS and other surveying equipment.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar technical software.
• Experience working on commercial, residential or civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and construction regulations.
• CSCS or other relevant construction/site qualifications.
• Experience using digital site management and reporting systems.
