Job summary

EKFB is seeking a Site Engineer with highways experience on a freelance basis in the Brackley area. You will oversee construction activities, liaise with subcontractors and staff, and manage site reports, designs and drawings to ensure adherence to plans and timelines.

Responsibilities include basic setting-out, requisitions, permits, and quality control of both subcontracted and self-delivered work on the 80km HS2 civil works corridor.

Qualifications

• HNC/Degree in Construction/Civil Engineering or equivalent and working towards ICE membership.
• Experience in construction industry, particularly highways and drainage works.
• Demonstrated Site Engineering knowledge with construction supervision.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and field tools like GPS and total stations.
• Familiarity with UK building regulations.
• Holder of CSCS card.
• Full driving licence required.

About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We're seeking to recruit a Site Engineer with Highways experience on a freelance basis in the Brackley area.

The Site Engineer will oversee and supervise construction activities and ensure they comply with the project plans and drawings. In this role you will liaise with subcontractors, and other professional staff, particularly Works Managers, Foremen, Section Engineers and Sub Agents. You will check and prepare site reports, designs and drawings and also manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents. You will ensure project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets, or timescales and provide technical advice and solve problems on site.

In addition, you will perform basic setting‑out and as‑built survey, place requisitions/material orders, request permits and perform quality controls of subcontracted work and self‑delivered activities.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE).
• Experience in construction industry, particularly in highways and drainage works is essential for this role.
• Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
• Proficiency in using engineering software like AutoCAD and tools such as GPS and total stations.
• Familiarity with UK building and construction regulations.
• Holder of CSCS card.
• Full driving licence required.
