Job summary

EKFB is recruiting a Site Engineer on a freelance basis for our Calvert site. You will supervise junior engineers on site and assist in construction operations, coordinating labour, plant and materials to meet programme and budget.

You will lead setting-out activities, resolve technical issues with senior staff, and monitor subcontractors to ensure contractual standards are met. You will also help prepare programmes, progress reports, and cost plans.

Qualifications

• HNC or degree in construction/civil engineering, or equivalent, with progress towards ICE membership.
• Demonstrated site engineering and construction supervision knowledge.
• Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage essential.
• Own transport and full driving licence required to reach remote sites.
• CSCS White/White-Yellow/Red, Black/Gold Supervisor or equivalent competence.

Responsibilities

• The Site Engineer on site for junior engineers and assists in construction operations.
• Liaise with Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to meet standards, schedule and budget.
• Work with the setting-out team and develop junior engineers, identifying and resolving technical problems with the senior team and Sub-Agent.
• Monitor and coordinate subcontractors to ensure work meets contractual requirements.
• Ensure the team has current information and resources, assist with programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and contribute to forecasting.

About The Role

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.

We are looking to recruit a Site Engineeron a freelance basis to join our Engineering team based in Calvert.

TheSite Engineeris responsible on site for other junior engineers and assists in the construction operations.

You will be required to liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget.

You will be responsible for work with the other team members of the setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the junior engineers and also for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the senior team and Sub-Agent. Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors in the performance of their works, ensuring they are completed to the contractual requirements.

Ensuring that the team have all current information and resources required to carry out their duties, you will be required to assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC/Degree(Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership(ICE).
• Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
• Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage is essential for this role.
• Must have own transport to be able to attend site(s) in remote areas.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
• You must hold the following competencies
