Job summary

EKFB in Buckingham is seeking a freelance Site Engineer with highways and/or structures experience to join the civil team on a challenging 80km rail project. You will liaise with Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to meet standards, programme and budget.

As part of the setting-out team you will oversee junior engineers, resolve technical issues on site and ensure subcontractors deliver to contract requirements.

Qualifications

• HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, working towards ICE.
• Knowledge of site engineering and construction supervision.
• Experience in highways and/or structures is essential.
• CSCS card required (any level).
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials.
• Coordinate with the setting-out team and junior engineers for development.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site.
• Monitor subcontractors for contractual compliance.
• Assist with programmes, progress reports and cost plans.

Job description

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by High speed two to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood.

Were looking to recruit a Site Engineer with Highways and/or Structures experience, to join our team on freelance basis in the Buckingham area.

Key part of this role is to liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme, and budget.

You will be responsible for work with the other team members of the setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the junior engineers and also for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the senior team and Sub-Agent. You will monitoring and coordinating subcontractors in the performance of their works, ensuring they are completed to the contractual requirements.

In addition, you will ensure that the team have all current information and resources required to carry out their duties. You will be required to assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE)
• Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills
• Experience in Highways and/or Structures is essential for this role
• CSCS card is required (Black, Gold, White, White/Yellow, Red Experienced or Red Provisional (6 months))
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required
