About The Role

EKFB has been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80 km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are seeking a Section Engineer with Structures experience for this major infrastructure project. The position is based at our Southam site and reports to the Sub Agent.

The Section Engineer will manage junior engineers and support construction operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervising the site engineering team from construction to close‑out, ensuring adherence to programme and budget.
• Assisting with temporary works design schemes and coordinating with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman on allocation of labour, plant and materials.
• Managing the site setting‑out team and overseeing performance and development of Site Engineers.
• Identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
• Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors to ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Providing current information and resources for the team.
• Assisting with production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and contributing to financial forecasting.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent, working towards institute membership (ICE).
• Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of site engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
• Experience in structures. Must own transport to attend remote sites and possess a full driving licence.
• Competencies:
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
  • CSCS card – White, White‑Yellow, Red – Experienced, Black – Manager or Gold – Supervisor.
