Job summary

Abcam in Cambridge, UK, is seeking an EHS Specialist to lead day-to-day Environment, Health & Safety performance at site level, reporting to the EHS Manager. This on-site role drives compliance and continuous improvement across the site.

You will plan and execute internal EHS audits, develop training content, and partner with site teams to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and implement proportionate controls that protect people and the business.

Qualifications

• Education – NEBOSH National Certificate qualification or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience supporting a laboratory-based organization.
• Excel proficiency for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong communication and collaboration across functions and stakeholders.
• Organisational planning with risk-based decision making in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage and enhance site EHS Management Systems for compliance and continuous improvement.
• Plan, lead, and execute internal EHS audit programs with corrective action tracking.
• Lead EHS initiatives and projects aligned with corporate EHS standards.
• Identify training needs, develop content, and deliver effective EHS training.
• Coach site teams to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and implement proportionate controls.
