Abcam in Cambridge, UK is seeking a Facilities Engineer to ensure reliable operation, maintenance and improvement of building systems in a regulated lab environment. The role is full-time, on-site, reporting to the Facilities Manager within the Workplace Team.

The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years in facilities/lab settings, NVQ3 or electrical technician certification, and proficiency with MS Word/PowerPoint/Outlook, with a strong focus on safety, quality and KPI-driven maintenance.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of experience in a facilities/lab setting.
  • Foundational skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and uphold Building Code, Regulations, Environmental Health & Safety policies.
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3, Approved, or Certified Electrical Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems across assigned properties.
  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, and general repairs to minimize downtime and ensure safe, compliant operations.
  • Maintain system records and track work orders against KPIs/SLAs.
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS, regulatory, and site-specific standards.
