Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Site Based Substation Construction Manager for a Hull-area project. You will lead site teams, coordinate engineers, manage resources and ensure safety, quality and compliance on a complex substation delivery.

The role requires strong project management, commercial awareness and ability to liaise with authorities and utilities while delivering on time and within budget. A degree in engineering and driving licence are desirable.

Qualifications

• Track record of delivering projects on time and to budget.
• Experience in National Grid projects is preferred.
• Understanding of standard forms of contract is desirable.
• Strong commercial and management communication skills.
• Experience implementing safe systems of work.
• Ability to improve safety processes and inspire the team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers for overall project profit and loss, ensuring safety, sustainability, environmental and quality standards.
• Promote collaborative environments with stakeholders and motivate staff to deliver.
• Manage Site/Project Engineers to meet safety and technical policies.
• Plan work and oversee materials, plant and equipment requirements.
• Oversee resources and supervise project staff.
• Manage construction site operations daily, supervise labour, subcontractors, and quality control.
• Ensure work meets standards and liaison with authorities and utilities.
• Deliver project on time and within budget by budgeting and tracking progress.
• Check design documents and ensure safety compliance.
