Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to join a major highways and infrastructure scheme in the Midlands. You will manage site operations from planning through to completion, ensuring works are delivered on time and to specification.

The role requires a strong background in highways, drainage and civils, with responsibilities including coordination of subcontractors, setting out, RAMS and QA, and close liaison with the Project Manager and client representatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Agent, Site Manager or Sub Agent in highways or civil engineering.
• Strong background in highways, drainage and civils works.
• CSCS and SMSTS qualifications expected; additional highways qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations to deliver works on programme and to specification.
• Supervise highways and civils construction activities and road widening projects.
• Coordinate drainage installations and Section 278 works.
• Liaise with Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives.
• Ensure RAMS, ITPs and QA documentation are maintained.
• Report progress and maintain health, safety and environmental standards.
• Manage subcontractors, labour and plant on site.

Job description

A well-established multi-million pound civils contractor is currently looking to recruit an experienced Freelance Site Agent to join their team on a major highways and infrastructure scheme in the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Agent with a strong background in highways, drainage and civil engineering, looking to work on a varied programme of infrastructure improvements.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a number of highways and civils work packages, managing site operations from planning through to completion.

The works will include highway upgrades, road widenings, junction improvements, drainage installations and Section 278 (S278) works, with the successful candidate working closely with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day site operations and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification
• Supervising highways and civils construction activities
• Managing road widening and highway improvement works
• Overseeing S278 works and junction upgrades
• Managing drainage installations, including surface water drainage, gullies, carrier drains and associated connections
• Coordinating subcontractors, labour and plant
• Working closely with Site Engineers and ensuring accurate setting out and construction information
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with RAMS, ITPs and project specifications
• Monitoring progress against programme and reporting to the Project Manager
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
• Supporting the commercial and planning teams where required
• Ensuring quality documentation, records and as-built information are maintained

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Site Agent / Site Manager / Sub Agent within a highways or civil engineering environment.
