Join Our Dermatology Team at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse within our Dermatology unit. Our motivated team provides high standards of evidence-based care across trust sites, focusing on patients with acute and chronic skin conditions. The role involves clinical care, leadership, and service development, ideal for junior dermatology nurses seeking to expand their roles.

We seek self-motivated, enthusiastic nurses with dermatology experience eager to develop further. A nurse prescribing or minor surgery qualification is beneficial, or willingness to obtain one within 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform lower risk, less invasive skin surgeries or disease-focused nurse-led clinics following protocols (e.g., wound care, biologics, isotretinoin).
2. Lead a small team and demonstrate initiative in change management.
3. Participate in quality improvement projects and provide formal training within the organization.
4. Engage in patient/public information initiatives and stay updated with current practice literature.
5. Update departmental guidance and competencies in line with governance procedures.
6. Manage staff rotas, absences, and conduct appraisals.
7. Undertake audits and research activities.
8. Supervise outpatient services and manage nurse-led clinics, including phototherapy treatments.

Key Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and dermatology CPD
• Post-registered dermatology experience
• Knowledge of current nursing issues nationally and locally
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and supervising staff/students
• Innovative practice and high-quality, patient-centered care
• Strong clinical skills and team leadership abilities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
