Job summary

GXO Logistics, Knottingley site, is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Shunter Driver to safely move palletised glass and manage yard operations during night shifts, with strict adherence to road transport rules.

The full‑time role runs 42 hours per week on a 4 on/4 off schedule; the salary is £38,110.80, with pension, life assurance, GP service and GXO University benefits. You’ll perform daily checks, trailer movements, and secure loads to standards.

Qualifications

• Full EU driving licence with C+E entitlement.
• Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC) required.
• Digital Tachograph Card required.
• No more than 6 penalty points.
• No DR/DG/DD/BA/CD/AC/LC/TT99 endorsements in last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for movement of palletised glass between local sites.
• Carry out regular shunting duties, including trailer movements and positioning within site boundaries.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure loads are secured and transported safely in line with procedures and legal requirements.
• Adhere to road transport legislation and driver hours regulations.

Here at GXO, we are looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Shunter Driver to join our team at our Knottingley (WF11 0AB) site, supporting our TJX contract.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 42 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off night shift pattern.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for the movement of palletised glass between local company sites
• Carry out regular shunting duties, including trailer movements and positioning of vehicles within site boundaries
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
• Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely in line with company procedures and legal requirements
• Adhere to all road transport legislation, driver hours regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A full EU driving licence with category C+E entitlement
• A valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
• Be in possession of a valid Digital Tachograph Card
• No more than 6 current penalty points
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years
